Jarkko Oikarinen created Internet Relay Chat (IRC) in August of 1988. A Command is a single line message sent to the server from a user to do things such as disconnect from the server, invite a member to a channel, boot someone from a channel, or enable an away status, etc. Channels are the discussion forums used for group communication though there are also channels used for private discussions. There is a IRC Software that is available for almost all operating systems. A user doesn't have to register for most of the servers but they do require you to make a "nickname".
I would recommend this form of mass communication to Bryan Torosian and Southland Media, though there are probably many alternatives to IRC today or that currently in development. IRC has been around for over 2 decades making it the best choice to reach out to virtually anyone because of it's easy accessibility. I thought the file transfer was a neat feature which would be a very useful tool when working with clients.
